Dívčí Kámen Castle

The castle is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval monuments in the Czech Republic.

Due to the combination of the rocky formation, meandering watercourses, and human impact, this area is very diverse both botanically and zoologically. For this reason, the area around the castle has been declared a nature reserve and is also part of the Blanský Les Protected Landscape Area.

The ruins of Dívčí Kámen Castle embody the harmony of history and nature.

The site is further enriched by the close proximity of a Celtic oppidum, which, in terms of significance and size, ranks among European unique sites. The castle was founded by the Rožmberk family in 1349 and abandoned by the same family in 1506. Five hundred years after its abandonment by its founders, it came into the ownership of the municipality of Křemže.

The castle regularly hosts concerts, historical, fencing, and theatrical performances, medieval markets, lectures, and exhibitions.
