Dvorec Zoo
The zoo is located in South Bohemia, 4 km from Borovany towards Trhové Sviny. The forest environment gives the place a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, ideal for rest and leisure. Surrounded by the sounds of the animals, you can feel transported to different continents. In the morning, gibbons sing, followed by seriema birds and cranes, and later lions and tigers join in. In the evening, the howls of wolves and jackals can be heard.
In 2014, the VENOMOUS pavilion was officially opened, where lovers of poisonous snakes can find the largest collection of cobras of the genus Naja. Out of 22 species, the zoo owns 21. The pavilion also includes a nocturnal exhibit for the Spotted Python and a terrarium for the Nile crocodile.
The zoo also caters to its youngest visitors. Annual events for children are held, and there are two playgrounds, benches for rest, and refreshments under the pergola at the “Crocodile Inn.” Restrooms are located at the beginning of the trail near the giraffe skeleton exhibit.
The zoo area is accessible for strollers and wheelchair users. The terrain is mostly flat and manageable for elderly visitors. Every year, trees, thuja, shrubs, ornamental plants, and grasses are planted to gradually create sheltered or shaded areas, ensuring a comfortable environment for the animals.
