Kleť Lookout Tower
The first structure of its kind in Bohemia has survived to this day. The tower, built in a neo-Gothic style and topped with battlements, was commissioned by Prince Josef Schwarzenberg and was therefore called Josef’s Tower. On cold and clear days, it offers views as far as the Alpine peaks.
In 1961, a chairlift was built from Krasetín to Kleť, with a length of 1,732 meters and an elevation gain of 346 meters. Another structure just below the summit is the television transmitter; the current one, built in 1977, is 172 meters high. A visit to the highest observatory in Bohemia, also located here, adds to the experience.
