The unique, internationally acclaimed 1954 documentary captures architectural monuments, the life of the Tibetans, and a meeting with the 19-year-old Dalai Lama Tändzin Gyamc and the Panchen Lama Gjalcchän. It tells the story of inhumane conditions in the construction of a gigantic piece of road, the highway, from Tibet through the highest mountains in the world.
