For the first time in its history, the MEN exhibition at Alš's South Bohemian Gallery in Hluboká nad Vltavou will present Robert Runták's collection from a different angle than was the case in the previous three exhibition projects. One of the essential sub-collections of the entire extensive collection will be presented, namely works whose focus is the depiction of the male body. It will not be a simple list of authors and works. The exhibition will emphasize four thematic units, each of which differently, but not strictly separately, emphasizes men and male bodies as a supporting point. A wide range of authors of the last approximately one hundred and twenty years, across techniques, will subject men as an expressive element and phenomenon to a certain examination against the background of stylistic, historical and partly also social backdrops. It will not only be about the authors of the domestic, or if you prefer, Czechoslovak circle, but the spectrum of artists is partly extended by the international context.
