The Museum of Forestry, Hunting and Fisheries invites all those who want to enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional pig slaughter on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Ohrada Hunting Chateau. The event, which takes place in the carnival period, combines both the pig-slaughter and the associated abundance of food, as well as the carnival merriment by presenting carnival masks and reminding of carnival customs that are characteristic of the South Bohemian carnival.
From 9 o'clock come to taste the hog soup with hail, fresh ovary, pork brains or brawn.
From 11 am to 2 pm, during the demonstrations of the production of traditional pig-slaughter specialties, have lunch with sausage, black pudding or a meal accompanied by an old Czech egg. At the end of the afternoon the courtyard smells of warm greaves.
An exhibition on the history of pig breeding, the tradition of pork processing and other importance of pigs for humans is prepared in the hunting hall.
From 11am to 3pm, visitors will have the opportunity to experience a carnival celebration in three entrances. Accompanying program will be provided by accordionists.
A rich accompanying program is also prepared for children who can have fun in fairy tales, make a paper mask in a creative workshop, learn to fill and spice up the sausage imitations and, last but not least, have a mask painted on their faces.
